Committee Charges 2012-2013


1. AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE

To monitor current regulations and interpretations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and make recommendations to the Dean of Library Services concerning related issues.
2. CIRCULATION POLICY COMMITTEE
To monitor existing circulation policies and procedures and to recommend new initiatives to the Dean of Library Services.
3. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
To provide the subject bibliographers a discussion group for collection development issues and to coordinate the annual periodical/standing order review and other initiatives concerning the Booth Library collections.
     COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT SUBCOMMITTEE ON DIGITAL RESOURCES
To monitor and oversee issues and procedures related to the development of digital resources, reporting to the Collection Development Committee.
     COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT SUBCOMMITTEE ON MEDIA RESOURCES
To monitor and oversee issues and procedures related to the development of media collections, reporting to the Collection Development Committee.
4. DEPARTMENTAL PERSONNEL COMMITTEE (elected)
To facilitate the faculty evaluation procedures for librarians and to make recommendations concerning retention, promotion and tenure for library faculty to the Dean of Library Services.
5. EMERGENCY AND SAFETY PROCEDURES COMMITTEE
To produce, regularly review, and disseminate the Booth Library Emergency Guidelines Manual, and to provide leadership in appropriate training of all library personnel to react to the gamut of possible threats.
6. LIBRARY PROGRAMMING COMMITTEE
To consider and manage, with the Dean of Library Services, the gamut of opportunities for speakers, films, exhibits, and performances that enrich the services of Booth Library for the University community and the region.
7. LIBRARY SERVICES COUNCIL
To serve as an advisory council to the Dean of Library Services, especially addressing issues and policies that impact on more than one department of the organization.
8. NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK COMMITTEE
To seek innovative ways in which to celebrate National Library Week sponsored by the American Library Association and with the Dean of Library Services, identify individuals who can best carry out the selected activities, including the annual sale of gift materials.
9. PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
To provide leadership for preservation issues related to library collections, making recommendations to the Staff Development Committee on training matters and to the Dean of Library Services on policy and procedures.
10. PUBLIC SERVICE COMMITTEE
To consider issues related to public service activities in Booth Library, and to make recommendations of policy to the Dean of Library Services.
11. SOCIAL COMMITTEE
To organize and, with the help of others, carry out appropriate activities that help celebrate or pay homage to the major events in the life of Booth Library and its faculty and staff.
12. STAFF DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
To identify areas of need and interest in training among Booth Library personnel and to develop and produce a continuing series of activities designed to enhance their skills and abilities.
13. STATISTICS COMMITTEE
To develop and monitor efficient procedures for reporting to the Dean of Library Services the annual productivity of Booth Library.
14. TECHNICAL SERVICES COMMITTEE
To consider issues related to technical service activities in Booth Library, and to make recommendations of policy to the Dean of Library Services.
15. UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES AND SPECIAL COLLECTIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
To serve as a consulting body to the University Archivist and Head of Special Collections, discussing issues and policies relevant to these areas, and to make recommendations to the Dean of Library Services.
16. WEB RESOURCES COMMITTEE
To maintain and enhance the library’s web site and make recommendations to the Dean of Library Services regarding relevant policy.
