Exterior features granite base, red brick cladding with cast stone insets, festoons and scrolls, green clad aluminum curtain wall window system at the pediment and west facade, green standing seam roof with a glass cross vault above the winter garden.
As a design element which caps the classical styling of the library, the architect has added foliated aluminum ornamentation at each of the four corners of the roof and above 3 of the 4 faces of the pediment. Each of these seven foliated ornaments has a sculpture of an owl nestled in the foliation.
