Ashley Bryan was born in New York City, educated at the Cooper Union Art School and at Columbia University, and has lived in France and Germany and traveled in England, Italy, Spain, Yugoslavia, Greece, Israel, Kenya and Uganda. Mr. Bryan is a painter, currerntly teaching art at Dartmouth College. He also teaches a course in the Black American Poets at Lafayette College.
